Get outside and be active!

Wednesday, February 3 is this year’s Winter Walk Day.  The goal is to get more Albertans physically active outdoors during the winter.  Just because it is cold outside, it does not mean we can’t be active outdoors.  Most of us already doing this; February 3 is a great time to celebrate it.  It may be as simple as walking to and from school, playing in the snow, taking a walk after dinner, going bird watching, or any of the countless activities we are fortunate to be able to do during the winter.

Wolf Moon

Did you know today is quite special?  It is a full moon and not just any full moon.  It's a Wolf Moon.  We inquired about what this means and how we can connect to this idea as a class.  When wolves howl during the wolf moon, they aren't just howling for hunting or mating purposes, they also howled to "reinforce social bond" and locate other members of their pack who have been separated.

Today, Author Marty Chan spoke to the students virtually to share his stories of becoming an author, how he got his ideas and tips for writing stories.

It was a beautiful snowy day for us to play! We started our day by a spot the difference activity! We compared 2 pictures and wrote down everything we noticed was different. We then looked an example of a chocolate bar array and learned about factors and multiples! We will continue on this journey tomorrow! We had a virtual peace assembly that was created and presented by our whole Eric Harvie Community. In the afternoon, we had a classroom meeting about discussed our ideas of promoting peace in our community! We revisited the idea of the ripple effect and realized that negative actions ripple but so do positive actions. We decided to intentionally spread positivity by doing acts of kindness.
