Reminder to go on to PowerSchool to sign up for parent conferences.
Thursday is a half day due to conferences.
No School Friday
(Grade 4 Only)
We started our day today with chapters 16-25 of The Wild Robot. The students were shocked by another cliffhanger ending to the chapter. After reading, the students were given the task to debate "Do robots have feelings". Some students were assigned the argument that they do not and the others were assigned the argument that they do. The students worked with their colour group to come up with points to defend their argument.
The students have been working hard this week to complete work to share with you during conferences. They are uploading artifacts to their Iris accounts and working on adding to their Google Slides. For many students this is their first time working with Google Slides without parent support so there is a lot of trial and error. We talked about being in the "scribble" where you're working through difficult challenges with a growth mindset.
This afternoon, Miss Shivi taught Mrs. Cox's class a lesson on short and long vowel sounds. They worked through sorting words into either category before they began their Words Their Way work.
