Today we had our final Fire Drill for 2020 and the students did a fantastic job of exiting the building safely and quietly. Great job everyone!
This morning the students read threw a few more chapters from The Wild Robot. They then talked about the main character, Roz and discussed how she has changed since the beginning of the story. They then wrote and drew to communicate their understanding of the character.
This afternoon we began with 20 minutes of Read to Self and guided reading. Mrs. Cox's class did some persuasive journal writing to convince their teacher who they should sit next to for the next month of school and why. We'll see if they chose a good fit neighbour!
Mrs. Cox tracked down Mrs. Kinsman's rock tumbler. We discussed words like opaque, transparent, luster and grit before we put rocks into the tumbler for a few weeks. We're excited to see what they look like after and learning about how this could happen in nature.
We ended today off with some more math (word problems with rounding) and word work.
