Reminder:
December 17th is PJ Day - Dress up in your favourite Pyjamas!
We are currently focusing our literacy work on writing personal narratives. After reading and listening to a number of examples of personal narratives, we have outlined what it means and identified some non-examples. Today the students used a organizer/template to think about a memory they have. We gave them the prompt: Write about a very special day you had. The students were challenged to stretch their memory and include setting, senses, emotions, etc. to make their writing more interesting and to paint a picture in the reader's mind.
After yesterday's work with data collection and graphing, the students were challenged to make their graph neater and easier to understand. They also wrote a conclusion statement to state what information the graph provided.
This afternoon was all about The Wild Robot. We are hoping to finish reading the novel tomorrow before our student teachers leave for a short while (their last day is tomorrow). We then spent more time constructing our robots and then reflected on how their robot connected to the story and included the most important component, being adapted to withstand the wild environment.
