We had a very active day today with measuring and building our animal shelters out of the natural materials they gathered at the coulee on Tuesday.
It was pretty challenging to build their structures but they showed resiliency, determination and in the end, a lot of pride in their work.
We will go back to the coulee next week to find a good place to keep our shelters.  We will make a few trips to the coulee during the spring to keep an eye on our shelters.  Wouldn't it be amazing if an animal made one of our shelters their home?
In math, we have been exploring measurement using centimetres and meters.  Today we measured many things around the classroom and discussed when it is best to use as meter stick, a ruler, or both.  We have also been solving word problems that involve measurement and multiplication or division operations.
