September 3, 2020

Our current practice when students are leaving the building for outside time or mask breaks is to use a Ziploc bag assigned to each child to store their masks.  We have noticed that some students are using fanny packs to carry their masks which seems to work really well to keep them with the child.  We would welcome families that choose to, to send a fanny pack with their child for mask storage, however if you choose not to we will continue to offer the Ziploc bags for storage.

Reminders:

Tomorrow is a half day - Dismissal is at 12:02

A student in our class is missing his FILA black and red shoes with his name in them.  Please check to see if they were switched accidentally.

We had another fantastic day getting to know each other through various activities and games.  We played "True or False" students were to say something about themselves  and the class had to guess if what they said was true or false.  We also journaled about how we are all unique.  We learned so much about what makes us all special.

Today we had our first assembly.  It was a bit of a change for us as we stayed in our classrooms and attended the assembly virtually.  We had a nice message from Mrs. Kinsman and Mr. Strand about our 5th year open and watched a video of all the teachers.  We also read our "Peace Book" together.

This morning the students demonstrated perseverance and a growth mindset as they studied and wrote about a "Rainbow Daisy". They came up with mathematical ideas and wonders and created questions and equations about the daisy.

We continue to be impressed by the students' willingness to adhere to our new school reality and are becoming pros at physically distancing in halls, washrooms, and while playing, especially if they are outside and not wearing their masks.
