Reminders  No School Friday (PD Day) No School Monday (Thanksgiving)

We will be heading to the coulee Thursday morning to investigate ways to show peace with friends, with our community, and our city.  We will record short videos demonstrating what we learn.

This morning our students completed a spelling assessment to help teachers identify the spelling stage of each student.  This will guide our spelling groups and each child will get word lists that fit their spelling stage.

We read a book, "Each Kindness" which also leads the reader on a journey of how a small act can create a ripple effect.

Ms. Huebner's class had Music today and Mrs. Cox's class began to look at place value in math and exploring large quantities as well as reviewing Base 10 Blocks and using zero as a place holder.  The students then used their Base 10 Blocks to build and write numbers into the hundreds and were then challenged to count all of their blocks.  Many students found it useful to create 10 rods out of their ones.

In the afternoon we started to think critically about number value.  What does value mean?  Where do we see 1, 10, and 100.  We will continue to work on this tomorrow, increasing the value each time.  We had to do a lot of research and found out that there are almost 200 countries in the world, there re 10 provinces, and over 600,000 words in the dictionary.  Continue this at home and think of where you see these numbers in your world.

After P.E., the students continue their collage work as we made a class chart about the animals they are working on and the animal adaptations it has.
