Reminders:

No School Tomorrow as we observe Remembrance Day

Please take time to watch the Eric Harvie School Remembrance Day Assembly

Remembrance Day - Part 1

Remembrance Day - Part 2

In class today we watched the Remembrance Day assembly together and we were so impressed by the how respectful and reflective our students were during the moment of silence.  We took some time today to discuss how thankful we are for having peace in our lives and how thankful we are for the soldiers who fight to protect us.

In math we are working on defining what exactly addition and subtraction is and we are starting to explore different strategies for solving addition and subtraction equations.  The students all worked through a common equation and shared the many ways of solving the equation.

This afternoon, Miss Shivi (Mrs. Cox's student teacher) introduced Rocks and Minerals to Mrs. Cox's class.  They had a chance to observe rock samples, sort photos, make predictions, and inquire into rock types.

Mrs. Cox and Miss Shivi's class painted their Diyas today and put them into the kiln to fire them at about 1000 degrees celcius.  We can't wait to see them when we return to school on Thursday.

We had so much fun in the snow today!

Mr. Papp (Ms. Huebner's student teacher) started our read aloud with the book The Wild Robot. We collected words to build our vocabulary and we were excited about the adventure. We thought of our wonderments as we listened to the story. We finished our lanterns to celebrate Costa Rica and we got to try them out. We explored with black light and proposed our theories as to how the lanterns work. We started to explore the concept of bioluminescence.

Finn brought in a beautiful coin collection to share with the class.

Ryker brought in a 50 cent coin!
