Next Thursday is a half day, students will be dismissed at 12:00 for conferences.

This morning, we started reading chapter 6-15 in the Wild Robot, we then tried to write what we think would happen next in the story. We collected new vocabulary while we listened to the story.
In math, we are working on using personal strategies for addition and subtraction. It is amazing how we all use different thinking when solving a simple equation such as 8 + 5 = 13. Some students think of doubles (5+5 = 10 , plus 3 more) and others using making 10 (8 + 2, then 3 more) and others are starting at 8 and then counting up on their fingers. It is our goal to ensure students are using the most efficient strategies and moving away from using fingers and tally marks and relying on mental strategies instead such as doubles, making 10, etc.
